Welcome to supple-pixels.net

Here are the IceWM themes that Conny has created:

IceWM is one of my favourite window managers for linux: fast, lightweight, easy to handle and very configurable at the same time.

At first sight some years ago I found IceWM somewhat naked and not especially attractive but functional, fast and full of potential. After some time of configuration for me it has developed from an "ugly duckling" to a beautiful "swan". IceWM gives you so many possibilities. My investment in this love has been worthwhile.

The themes which I publish here are licensed under the GNU General Public License. They are placed to your free disposal according to the terms of the GPL. More detailed information you can find on http://www.gnu.org/copyleft/gpl.html.

Leather

This is a leather theme with rounded corners. All elements (title bar, window frames, background images, etc.) are entirely made from real leather. The colours are warm, bright shades of brown, and blue. Altogether the theme imparts a sense of warmth, elegance and clarity. In particular I'm happy about the rounded corners and the mouseover effect on the title bar buttons.

I created this theme with IceWM version 1.2.28. The default theme is in flat style. For older IceWM versions which do not support flat style yet I've included a gtk variant. The overloaded variants (flat and gtk) contain all buttons accepted by IceWM so far.

Apart from the theme variants there are some "multipurpose" icons and additional leather background images included.

The idea to create this theme sprang from pure delight and enjoyment of beauty. A warm, natural and clear design was important to me. Everything in this theme I created from scratch: every single image, every button ... even the leather is genuine (scanned). The single images I processed with The GIMP. All of that made a lot of fun ...

LeatherBlack

This is my second theme. It's very similar to the Leather theme. The main difference is that I used black leather and that there are some shades of grey included.

My own taste rather tends to bright, friendly colours. But since I know there are many black- and dark-lovers, and I enjoyed making themes, I created this theme for all these. It gave me pleasure :-)

Installing the themes

If you use Debian, just extract the themes in one of the following directories.

As a normal user to

$HOME/.icewm/themes/

Systemwide for all users to

/usr/share/icewm/themes/

Other distributions might provide other directories where IceWM themes are stored. A "locate icewm | grep themes" can help you find the path. (Even better, because shorter output: "locate icewm | grep 'themes' | grep -v 'themes/.\+'".)

What's not included in the themes

Some IceWM settings are not themable such as my liking for submenus opening automatically when the mouse stays on a main menu item. If you'd like this too but don't know how to do it: This adjustment can be done in the file "$HOME/.icewm/preferences":

# Menus track mouse even with no mouse buttons held
MenuMouseTracking=1 # 0/1
